LSKD 1% Better Throwdown

Once a year, the entire LSKD network comes together for two days with one simple purpose: to stop, reflect and align on what comes next.

This is the LSKD 1% Better Throwdown.

Now in its third year, Throwdown is an annual moment for our global team to step away from the day-to-day, reconnect with each other and think bigger about where we’re going — and, perhaps more importantly, who we need to become to get there.

Because being 1% better isn’t just about what we do. It’s about how we show up.

Two days. One team. One shared direction.

With our team travelling in from around the globe, the LSKD 1% Better Throwdown brings together people from different countries, departments, roles and backgrounds, all in one room. The two days are designed to challenge us, get us thinking differently and create space for conversations that don’t always happen in the everyday. This year, we kicked things off by being welcomed to Country by Nartarsha Bamblett.

From there, the two days were filled with learning, reflection, movement, connection and plenty of moments that pushed people outside their comfort zones. Whether it was stepping up to public speak, getting involved in a workout, sharing an idea or simply having a conversation with someone from another part of the business, Throwdown was about participation. Everyone had a part to play.

From leading self to leading team

Each Throwdown builds on the one before it. Last year’s theme was Leads Self, and this year we moved into Leads Team, shifting the focus from how we lead ourselves to how we bring others with us. Facilitated by Susanne Conrad and Casey Carrion from Lightyear Leadership, the sessions created space for honest conversations around leadership, growth and the future of LSKD. We were also joined by keynote speaker Ben Crowe, who challenged the team to think differently about mindset, leadership and how we show up, both individually and together. It was a chance to step back, ask better questions and think about the kind of leaders and teammates we want to become.

WE MOVED TOGETHER

Movement has always been a huge part of who we are at LSKD, so naturally, it had to be part of the two days. This year we held our first LSKD functional workout, led by our LSKD Athletes Jane Erbacher, Abbey Hall and Bec Kirkup, giving the team a chance to get moving, challenge themselves and, of course, cheer each other on. We were also lucky enough to hear from keynote speaker Ben Crowe, who brought his perspective on mindset, leadership and what it means to show up at your best. There was no shortage of energy throughout the day, and Throwdown was one of those rare opportunities to see the entire team step outside their usual roles. The person you normally see behind a desk might be throwing down in a workout, while someone who rarely gets in front of a crowd might find themselves standing on stage. That's part of the magic.

Looking back to move forward

While Throwdown is about what's next, it's also about remembering where we came from. LSKD hasn't always looked like it does today. Loosekid. LKI. Motocross. Jason's mum's bedroom. A Skittles shoot. Every version of LSKD has played a part in getting us here, and our growth hasn't happened overnight or because we had everything figured out. It's happened because our people have continued to challenge what we know, learn from each other, take risks and keep moving forward. That's what the 1% Better mindset is really about - not chasing perfection or having all the answers, but refusing to stand still.

What Comes Next?

Throwdown gives us a moment to step back from the day-to-day and ask the bigger questions: Where are we going? And more importantly, who do we need to become to get there? If we want to set the standard for our community, we first have to set the standard for ourselves. That means choosing authenticity, possibility, integrity and humility, not simply as words, but as standards we hold ourselves to every day.

At LSKD, we believe every person has the ability to create momentum. One person can push the flywheel, but a team can make it spin. Throwdown is a reminder of what can happen when our people come together with a shared purpose, challenge each other to think bigger and take collective responsibility for what comes next.

And there is plenty to look forward to. Next year marks 25 years of LSKD - 25 years of learning, pushing, evolving and becoming. Three Throwdowns in, the purpose remains the same: to bring our people together, create space to reflect, challenge ourselves to think bigger and leave with a shared sense of what's next.

The 2026 LSKD 1% Better Throwdown may be wrapped, but the work doesn't stop here. We’ll take what we learned, carry the conversations forward and keep showing up with the same mindset that got us here in the first place...
