2016 World Wakeboard Championships

LKI Wakeboard Team cleaned up at the World Wakeboard Championships in Toronto Canada over the weekend. With a record crowd for the Aussies attending the worlds the event also had a record crowd watching with the Worlds run as part of the Canadian National Exhibition that has over 1.8 million people over two weeks.

LKI athletes Jet Ellis, Lachy Swift, Holly Watt, Lewy Watt and Cobe France all made the trip over. Jet Ellis took 3rd in the 9 and under boys category. Lachy Swift made it into the Semi Finals in a tough Junior Men class. Our Junior Womens past world champ Holly Watt threw down another world class flawless run to take the World Championship.

It was only Lewy Watt and Cobe France left to ride these two had just finished a grueling 5 months of Junior Pro competitions from Melbourne Australia, to Portugal in the USA, with the Worllds as the final event in the Nautique Wake Series. Lewy and Cobe rode flawlessly in the heats and Semis with a stacked finals of 3 Aussies and 3 USA riders. Cobe took a couple of uncharacteristic Falls finishing up 5th but Lewy threw down a full pass of tricks with only one fall to take out 2nd place in the tough Junior Pro class. As the last event in the Wake Series Cobes consistant riding throughout the season gave him not only the Wake Series championship but also the Junior Pro series title with Lewy taking 3rd in the Wake Series. You can see most of the LKI team riding back in Australia in September at the Wakeboard Queensland training camp and summer series competition at Grafton!
